Dr. Hunninghake's clinical and research interested include the areas of sarcoidosis, asthma, occupational lung disease, and interstitial lung disease. Dr. Hunninghake's basic studies emphasize molecular and cellular biology, virology and second messenger studies.

Dr. Hunninghake is also the Director of the Graduate Program in Translational Biomedical Research and the Director of the Training Program in Molecular and Cellular Biology of the Lung (NHLBI)
