Dr. Cabuay's research interests include Interventional cardiology and coronary artery disease. His clinical interests are in the areas of Heart failure, cardiac intensive care.
- Prediction of embolic events from cardiac catheterization using transesophageal echo assessment of atherosclerosis. Principal Investigator - Marcus Stoddard, M.D., 1998-present.

- "Can total enteral nutrition provide adequate stress prophylaxis?" A prospective, randomized, controlled trial. Principal Investigator - Stephen McClave, M.D. (Director, Clinical Nutrition, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, University of Louisville). *Wrote protocol and assisted with gathering and interpreting data. Protocol currently being reviewed by the Human Studies Committee and sent for formal grant. 1995-present.
