Faculty within the division of rheumatology have won numerous teaching awards, including three University of Iowa Collegiate teaching awards, M3 (third year medical students) Teacher of the Year, five M4 Teacher of the Year awards, four Residents' Teacher of the Year awards, and awards for Best Instructor of Introduction to Clinical Medicine/Disciplines three times. In addition, one of the faculty has been awarded the Lewis D. Holloway award for research in medical education. One of the division's faculty has been awarded the Henry Kunkel award for research, a national award recognizing outstanding contributions to rheumatologic research.
