Department of Internal Medicine
Pulmonary, Critial Care, and Occupational Medicine Fellowship Program
Pulmonary Radiology Conference
Faculty Organizer: Thomas Gross, M.D.
Target Audience: All Fellows in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
Goals:
Provide experience for the fellows in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine experience in reading and interpreting chest imaging procedures including chest X-rays, chest CT scans and lung scans.
Design of the Conference to meet the Goals:
This is an active participation conference. Radiographic images are provided along with clinical vignettes, and fellows and faculty are asked to provide their interpretation of the images including differential diagnoses. The clinician providing the film provides follow-up and interpretation information after the film is read. During the year, some sessions are dedicated to more focused discussions with examples of classic CXR findings and interpreting chest CT scans. The conference is held for one hour bimonthly from September through June. All fellows in training are required to attend.
Evaluation:
The course is evaluated by interviewing fellows during their evaluations with the Program Director and by interviews with the fellows at year- end.
