Department of Internal Medicine Pulmonary, Critial Care, and
Occupational Medicine Fellowship Program

Pathology and Pulmonary Rehabilitation


(2 Weeks during the F 1 Year)

Faculty Responsible: Lois Geist, M.D., Jeff Wilson, M.D. and faculty attending on the consult service; Di Lu, M.D. Pathology

Goals:

  1. Gain experience with the indications for and evaluation of patients prior to starting pulmonary rehabilitation
  2. Understand the indications for cardiopulmonary exercise testing
  3. Participate in exercise testing in the cardiopulmonary exercise lab
  4. Interpretation of cardiopulmonary exercise tests
  5. Learn the fundamentals of pathology with an emphasis on pulmonary pathology
  6. Develop an understanding of pathological patterns in tissue

Site of Instruction:

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics

Evaluation:

Fellows are evaluated informally throughout the two weeks, as well as through formal evaluation at the end of the 2 week rotation. Evaluation will be primarily by the attending staff on the rotation.
