Occupational Medicine Fellowship Program
Outpatient Pulmonary Clinic
Faculty Responsible : Douglas Hornick, M.D. and faculty attending for each clinic
Goals:
- Learn about evaluating and treating pulmonary diseases in the outpatient setting.
- Gain experience working in a multidisciplinary group in the outpatient setting.
Site of Instruction:
Pulmonary Clinic (University Hospitals and VAH). Each F 1 fellow is assigned to 6 months of a 1/2-day per week continuity clinic (3 months while assigned to the VAH and 3 months while assigned to the Procedures Service), and each F 2 and F 3 fellow is assigned to a half-day per week continuity-of-care clinic each year, 26 clinics at the University Hospitals and 26 clinics at the VAH. The fellow is the primary physician for the patient, and each patient encounter is staffed by a faculty attending physician whose only assignment is to serve as the teaching staff in the outpatient clinic.
Evaluation:
Fellows are evaluated informally throughout after each clinic, and they are evaluated monthly by the outpatient attending staff for the month. In addition, their evaluations are discussed with the Program Director in the biannual evaluation meeting.
