Pulmonary Research Conference
Faculty Responsible: Rama Mallampalli, M.D.
Target Audience: Pulmonary Fellows in training, Pulmonary Faculty, Pulmonary research scientists, and interested research scientists
Goals:
- Expose all participants to contemporary pulmonary research
- Educate participants in state-of-the-art concepts of pulmonary biology and clinical investigation techniques
- Provide a forum for participants to disseminate ongoing laboratory work
- Establish collaborations among conference participants
Design of the Conference:
The conference is held weekly September through June for one hour. It is a lecture/discussion format providing for lecturer/audience interactions.
All faculty present one research conference per year, and approximately 9-12 outside speakers are invited to present their ongoing research. These invited participants often spend one or two additional days meeting with faculty and fellows in the Division.
All second and third year fellows present their research annually at this conference to provide an opportunity for constructive critique from the Division and to allow assessment of their research progress.
Evaluation:
Informal interviews with conference participants.
