Pulmonary Pathology Conference

Faculty Responsible: James Carroll, M.D. and Bob Robinson, M.D.

Target Audience: Faculty, fellows, and residents in pulmonary medicine

Goals of the Conference:

To develop a working knowledge of normal and abnormal lung pathology, and to correlate the pathology with clinical scenario.

Design of the Conference to meet the Goals:

The pathology conference is held monthly. For some sessions material will be presented in a didactic manner, using pathology teaching sets. This didactic approach will provide an overview of normal and abnormal lung histology and pathology, using both anatomic and cytologic specimens.

The second format will use material from clinical cases with review and discussion of the cases led by Pathology faculty. This approach will provide a forum for using the didactic information and applying it to clinical cases.

Evaluation of the Conference:

The conference will be evaluated for design, content, and applicability to clinical practice on a semi-annual basis. Changes will be implemented based on those evaluations. All attendees will be asked to evaluate the conference.
