Dear Colleagues:

The recent Iowa River flood has affected our division family several fellows and staff have had to move out of their homes, losing much of what they had to high water and mud.

Marty Monick is a Senior Research Assistant in Gary Hunninghake¹s laboratory. Dozens of fellows that have rotated through Gary¹s lab have been trained by Marty. She and her husband had recently moved to the Idyllwild neighborhood on Foster Road. The entire neighborhood flooded, and they are waiting for FEMA to decide if they will rebuild. Marty and her husband have rented a house.

Greg Davis and Mark Rogan are third year fellows. They are neighbors on Manor Dr. (mosquito flats). Both their homes flooded. Greg, his wife Jody and four children have rented a house, while with the help of Greg¹s father, rebuild their home. Mark¹s wife Carmen and two children have stayed in Ireland for the summer and will return when Mark¹s home is repaired.

The faculty, fellows and staff of the division have helped along the way.
Moving their furniture, sandbagging, removing sand bags, cleaning, housing, feeding are among the efforts to help our colleagues. Currently, we are helping Mark drywall and paint. However, the financial burden for Greg, Mark and Marty is enormous.

I am writing to ask for your help. Please consider contributing to the Community Foundation of Johnson County. Your contribution is tax deductible and will be used by the Community Foundation of Johnson County to directly help our friends and colleagues Greg, Mark and Marty to regain their footing.
