Department of Internal Medicine
Pulmonary, Critial Care, and Occupational Medicine Fellowship Program

Clinical Pulmonary Conference

Faculty Organizer: Jeff Wilson, M.D.

Target Audience: All faculty and fellows in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine

Goals:

Provide scientific, literature-based review of clinical topics as ongoing CME and for training in clinical medicine.

Provide a learning experience for fellows in identifying a clinical question, searching the clinical literature, and presenting a clinical topic discussion.

Design of the Conference to meet the Goals:

This is a patient case-based conference where a clinical question related to diagnosis or treatment is identified. Salient clinical literature is reviewed to answer the question posed and open discussion is facilitated. Two cases each week are presented with the fourth Friday conference of each month focused on one critical care topic and one occupational medicine topic.

Evaluation:

The course is evaluated by interviewing the fellows near the end of their clinical year and by at least one review with the entire faculty during a pulmonary staff meeting.
