Conferences and Teaching Program

Allergy/Immunology Grand Rounds are held on Wednesdays at 8:00 am. Sessions scheduled during the first three months are dedicated to the Core-Curriculum and basic issues in the practice of Allergy/Immunology are addressed. Several case-presentations conferences are held throughout the year as a forum for the discussion of interesting/challenging patients. All fellows, regardless of year of training, are responsible for presenting at Grand Rounds on a rotating basis. An Allergy/Immunology Journal Club is held on a regular basis and fellows are assigned primary responsibility for presenting at this forum. Allergy/Immunology Research Conference is held on a quarterly basis and all fellows will be assigned to present their research activities at this conference.

Wednesday afternoons are dedicated to other educational activities including a fellows teaching seminar and board review sessions. An Applied Immunology Conference for all fellows in the Department of Medicine is held during the lunch hour on a monthly basis. The Immunology Group Seminar is held on Wednesdays at 4:00PM and gives fellows the opportunity to hear presentations by nationally recognized invited speakers who address significant issues in basic and applied immunology. Attendance at this seminar is required and fellows funded by a Training Grant are expected to present their research at this seminar.
