Bashar completed medical school in his home country of Jordan in 2007 at the University of Jordan, Faculty of Medicine. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa in 2011. Following his year as a Chief Resident, Bashar will complete a fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Iowa. Bashar and his wife, Salam, have twin girls who were born in July 2011, and they are very busy enjoying parenting. Bashar enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing soccer and eating middle eastern food. |

A native Texan, Suzette’s tour of the country started in 1999 when she travelled to upstate New York to complete her Bachelor’s degree in the Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University. After college, she worked in diabetes research and health education in Santa Barbara, California. In 2004, she continued her journey up the West Coast to Portland, Oregon. While there, she earned an M.D. degree at Oregon Health and Sciences University and met her husband, Rick, a native Oregonian. After medical school, they came to Iowa City where Suzette completed her Internal Medicine Residency at The University of Iowa in 2011. Following completion of the Chief Residency year, she will continue to work as a General Internist in the Iowa City area while her husband completes medical school at the Carver College of Medicine. In her free time, Suzette can be found tending her herb garden, keeping in touch with family and friends, or playing with Oscar, the family dog. |

Brett received his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Kansas in 2001, followed by a master’s degree in 2003. After working for one year in a research lab, Brett started medical school at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine where he received his medical degree in 2008. Brett then completed his Internal Medicine residency at The University of Iowa in 2011. Following completion of his chief residency year, he plans on an Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. Brett and his wife Kate have two young daughters who keep them very busy. However, he still finds time to brew and drink craft beer. |
