OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse): A registered nurse who has met the requirements and successfully completed a certification exam to provide care to oncology patients.
Oncogene: A gene that may normally direct cell growth at an early time in fetal growth, but which later can also promote or allow the development of cancer if damaged (mutated) by an environmental exposure to carcinogens, or damaged or missing because of an inherited defect.
Oncologist: A physician who specializes in the study and treatment of cancer.
