Prior to Admission
Pre-Admission Visit
Most insurers require that patient education and baseline testing be done during an outpatient visit. Therefore, two to three weeks before your admission, we will schedule a full-day outpatient visit for you. At this time you will have some required testing done. The tests you will have done depend on the type of disease for which you are being transplanted. In addition, you will meet with a Physician Assistant, Patient Coordinator, and, when appropriate, a transplant physician. Our team members will further review studies and obtain your consent to participate in which you will participate while on the transplant unit.
Patient education and pre-admission testing are a very important part of your transplant.
