Overview of Transplant

Our B&MT Care Team

Our medical team is composed of a staff physician, fellow physician, and physician assistants, each of whom play an important role in making decisions and providing patient care. Our B&MT Care Team includes nurses, a social worker, a dietitian, pharmacist, and physical therapists.

Members of our Adult B&MT medical team meet on the unit
to discuss the current status of each patient's condition.

Each month the physicians on our team may rotate to cover other responsibilities. Thus, each month that you are on the B&MT Unit a new team of physicians will assume responsibility for your overall care. Your physician assistant, however, will remain with you throughout your inpatient stay. The monthly transition goes very smoothly. All of our staff physicians attend several weekly formal and informal meetings about the current status of each patient's condition.

Our team will visit with you on the transplant unit once daily. These rounds are usually in the morning and involve a review of your new or old symptoms, a physical exam, and a discussion of events to happen during the day. During the late afternoon or evening, a member of the team responsible for your care that night will check in on you to see how your day has been and to review any new findings.
