10/5/2007 To improve the quality of our heart patient care and enhance our position in the marketplace, we are taking a new, service line approach to heart and vascular care. For this service line, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and UI Physicians have established a new financial and reporting structure that includes physicians and staff from:
The UI Heart and Vascular Center is led by interventional cardiologist Theresa Brennan, MD, as medical executive officer; vascular surgeon Jamal Hoballah, MD, as surgical executive officer; and Deann Montchal, as associate director for administration. This leadership team reports to a heart and vascular executive board. Dr. Brennan is the Colloton Associate Professor and Clinical Director of cardiovascular medicine. She received her medical degree from Northwestern University and completed a residency and fellowship training at UI. Dr. Hoballah received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon and completed a general surgery residency at New York University. His fellowship training was at NYU and UI. Montchal has a bachelor of nursing degree from UI and a master’s in business administration/health care administration from the University of Phoenix.
