Dr. Lawton has become identified as the central architect and senior medical advisor for the Iowa dialysis network.

Dr. Hegeman, received her MD from the University of Iowa where she also completed a medicine residency and nephrology fellowship. She joined the faculty in the Department of Internal Medicine in 1993 and currently is Associate Professor. An active participant in all aspects of divisional and departmental clinical activities, Dr. Hegeman coordinates the ambulatory blood pressure service and the division staffing schedules. She is regarded as an excellent teacher at all levels on the health science campus and currently serves as a Carver College of Medicine Medical Student Community Faculty Director. Dr. Hegeman is a member of the University of Iowa Faculty Senate and Faculty Council. During her 10 years as a faculty member, she has contributed substantially to the success of the dialysis program and the University of Iowa.
