Department of Internal Medicine Janet Schlechte Appointed New Care Management Medical Director 4/21/2003 Janet A. Schlechte, M.D. recently accepted the position of medical director of the Continuum of Care Management program at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Schlechte received her medical degree with distinction from the University of Nebraska and joined the UI in 1976 as a resident in internal medicine. She also completed a fellowship in endocrinology at the UI where she is professor in the UI Department of Internal Medicine. Since 1986, Schlechte has served in a variety of administrative capacities, including director of postgraduate programs for the Department of Internal Medicine, director of the Endocrine Diagnostic Lab and director of the General Clinical Research Center. In her role as medical director, Schlechte will assist in program and policy development, implementation, problem solving and evaluation. The program oversees the full range of care provided to patients at UI Hospitals and Clinics. She will chair the Utilization Management Subcommittee and co-chair the Bed Management and Discharge Planning Coordination Sections. |
