Research Day Winners Announced

Internal Medicine Research Day was held on Thursday, January 29, 2009 in the Medical Education Research Facility (MERF).

Over 100 posters were submitted by department faculty, research professionals, trainees and students.

The awards winners are:

• Best Basic Science- Kevin A. Glenn, MD
  Changes in cellular levels of misfolded glycoproteins during aging

• Best Translational/Health Services- Jorge T. Go, MD
  As Length of Stay Falls, Do 30-day Readmission Rates Increase in Veterans Administration (VA) Hospitals? (1997 to 2007)

• Best New Investigator (Post Doc/Fellow) - Eun-Mi Kim, PhD
  Generation of human induced pluripotent stem cells from adult primary fibroblasts by transduction of reprogramming factors

• Best Student- Emma L. Mohr
  GBV-C E2 Interactions with Candidate Receptors

• Best RA/Research Scientist - Madhu Singh, PhD
  Ablation of complement factor B improves cardiac function after myocardial infarction
