The Gerkes, Alicia (Pulm Fellow) and Henning (GI faculty), are the proud parents of a baby girl, Gretchen Luise, born August 28, 2008 at 4:56 p.m. Baby Gretchen weighed 8 lbs, 6 oz.

Gelbach's New Arrival
Rachael and Tom Gehlbach (Pulm Fellow) are happy to announce the birth of Jack Cyrus, born July 27, 2008. Cyrus weighed 7 lbs. 5.6 oz., and was 21 3/4 inches long.

Internal Medicine faculty run for charity in DOC Dash 2008
Allergy faculty members Amy Dowden and Nicholas Zavazava each finished 1st in their age divisions in the DOC dash on September 19, 2008. Dr. Dowden finished with a time of 25:39:00, followed by Dr. Zavazava with a time of 27:17:00.
This year, proceeds from the the 19th annual student-organized DOC Dash 5K charity run will go to help the American Red Cross’s flood relief efforts in Iowa City. 120 people participated in the event, which brought in over $1800.

Deb and Dan Farraro (R1) are the proud parents of baby Olivia, born July 5, 2008 at 9:15 p.m. Olivia tipped the scales at 8 lbs. 12 oz., and measured 21 inches long.

Byron Nielsen (Chief Resident) announces a new addition to his family: Cade Nielsen, born Sunday August 10, 2008. He is 7lbs 7oz and has a nice full head of hair.
