Occupational Medicine Clinic
The Occupational Medicine Clinic provides diagnostic testing services and expert care for patients with work related health problems. Staff members in the Occupational Medicine Clinic understand the relationship between work related exposures and health problems. Physicians working in this clinic are certified in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, Preventive Medicine, and Pulmonary Medicine. These physicians evaluate, diagnose, and treat symptoms resulting from occupational exposures. Social workers and industrial hygienists also provide care and education through evaluating work environments and providing advice on prevention techniques. The following services are provided by the Occupational Medicine Clinic:
- A complete clinical evaluation with a physical examination and laboratory tests that will include an assessment of all work related problems
- Formal impairment evaluations
- A complete evaluation of work and environment exposures by an industrial hygienist
- Ongoing medical care for work related conditions
- A detailed clinical letter describing the findings from the evaluation
- Coping strategies for health problems
- Advise on how to limit further exposure to harmful elements
- Assistance with medical and legal aspects of a work related diagnosis
Anyone with proven or suspected work related health problems can be evaluated in the UIHC Occupational Medicine Clinic. Patient appointments are received both by self-referral and referral by physicians, employers, insurance carriers, or attorneys.
