Geoffrey McLennan, M.B.,B.S., F.R.A.C.P., Ph.D.
Professor

Dr. McLennan's clinical interests are in general pulmonology with a particular focus on diagnostic and therapeutic uses of bronchoscopy. His clinical research includes studies of new applications for fiber optic bronchoscopy.

Previous research relates to elastin metabolism in the lung and heparin as an antielastase on substance P in relation to human asthma, and in human alveolar macrophage function in lung cancer. Current research is in the development of and utility of advanced image analysis techniques in the lung. He is also actively involved in developing newer bronchoscopic techniques, especially virtual bronchoscopy, bronchoscopic fluorescence detection, bronchoscopic ultrasound, balloon bronchoplasty and bronchial stent placement, as well as in medical laser application. He has also undertaken clinical research in asthma, lung cancer, and pneumonia and continues to examine aspects of lung cancer in NCI funded studies.
