John S. Chase, M.D.
Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr. Chase is a native of West Texas. He came to the University of Iowa in 1996 for cardiology fellowship. Following his fellowship he has remained on faculty. His expertise is in the areas of Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplant, Pulmonary Hypertension and diagnostic cardiac catheterization.

Dr. Chase has been a part of the Heart Failure, Heart Transplant and Pulmonary Hypertension Programs since 1998. He has past basic science research experience in heart failure and, since 1998 he has served as a co-investigator in numerous clinical trials in heart failure and pulmonary hypertension.

Dr. Chase served as the interim head of the Heart Failure Program from November 2005 to July 2006.

Dr. Chase has diverse interests in Heart Failure, Heart Transplant and Pulmonary Hypertension. These interests not only include a large clinical practice and participation in clinical investigatory trials, but they also encompass a devotion to patient and family education. In January 2006 he initiated a regional annual symposium for heart failure patients and their families.

Dr. Chase is an active invasive cardiologist and has extensive echocardiographic experience.
